On September 22, 1951, she married Bob Colston in Gainesville, Texas. They lived in Ardmore and Marietta for many years. They had three children, Ronnie, Lisa, and Leah. Maxine spent her remaining years as a resident of StoneCreek Assisted Living Center in Edmond. Maxine was known for her fiery attitude and telling the truth, whether you wanted to hear it or not. She enjoyed shopping, coloring, needlepoint, and spending time with her loved ones on their family farm.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Alta and Jess Links; Bob Colston, father of her children; and siblings, Junior Links, C.W. Links, and Jean Smith.
Survivors include son Ronnie Colston and wife Cindy;
daughters, Lisa Bean and husband Steve and Leah
Johnson and husband Matt; sister, Lorene Caulfield;
grandchildren, Tiffany Nichols and husband Zach,
Derek Wallace and wife Sami, Jacey Alford and
husband Preston, Cara Wilkins and husband Josh,
Garrett Johnson, Ella Johnson; and six
great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at Lakeview Cemetery at
10 a.m. Monday, May 9 with Reverend Rick Lane
officiating.
