Services for Aria Anna Cochran, 97, of Marietta were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 16 in Marietta’s First Baptist Church with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating.

Interment followed in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born June 9, 1914 in Marietta, the daughter of C.E. “Charlie” and Aria Burch Kimsey, she died Saturday, February 11, 2012 in Dallas.

A resident of Love County all of her life, she was valedictorian of the 1931 Marietta High School class. After graduating from Southeastern State College, Durant, she taught in the Marietta, Greenville, Turner and Meadowbrook public school systems in Love County and also continued her own education by doing work toward a Masters degree. Mrs. Cochran retired in 1979 after teaching 33 years. As an active member of Marietta’s First Baptist Church, she also taught Sunday School for many years. Her hobbies included playing bridge, crocheting and gardening.

She and W.C. “Buddy” Cochran were married in Marietta on August 23, 1941. He preceded her in death on January 4, 1997.

Others preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Theo Little.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William Kimsey and Harriet Lee Cochran of Dripping Springs, Texas; a daughter, Carol Ann Cochran of Dallas; a sister, Charlene Dailey of Angleton, Texas; two granddaughters, Aria Alexandra Cochran and Gwendolyn Kimsey Cochran; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Omar Ramirez, Lynn Puckett, Bud Barnes, Royce Willis, George Hicks and Herman Roberson.

Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Home for Girls in Madill c/o Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, 100 East Main St., Marietta, OK 73448.
