Graveside services for Charles Richard Clark, 79, of Thackerville were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 21 in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born March 2, 1935, at Bowles, the son of John Walter and Bular Mae Gilbert Clark, he died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in Mercy Hospital Ardmore.

A resident of California during the 1940’s and 50’s where he and his brother had a pest control business, Charles returned to Love County in 1958 to make his home.

He and Shirley Ann Grice were married on September 11, 1967 in Decatur, Texas, and she preceded him in death on January 15, 1992.

Charles had been employed as a heavy equipment operator for Love County for more than 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing dominoes, restoring old wagons and going to auctions to look for old farm implements. One of his favorite pastimes was caring for Wayne’s pigs. Charles was a very caring, thoughtful and giving man who loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his wife; parents; son, Charles Richard Clark, Jr.; seven sisters, Ruth Calvert, Iola Harp, Viola Sconce, Betty Swan, Ivarine Walker, Mina Mae Adams and Judy Shell; a half-sister, Pearl Burchfield and five brothers, Melvin Clark, Jack Clark, Rusty Clark, Carl Clark and Raymond Clark.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Terri Clark of Thackerville; numerous sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Honorary bearers were Johnny Mitcheson, Clint Mitcheson, Clyde Clark, Herschel Peery, Richard Thacker and Greg Sampson.
