Services for Burnie B. Chambers will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Thackerville First Baptist Church with Rev. Lawrence Boley officiating. 


Born June 8, 1908, in Love County, Mrs. Chambers died November 19, 1991, in Lake Country Manor, Marietta.

A graduate of Southeastern State University, Mrs. Chambers taught school 34 years and was chosen Love County Teacher of the Year in 1964. She married Leslie Chambers in 1931. Mrs. Chambers was a member of the First Baptist Church and Eastern Star.

Survivors include two daughters, Marianne Ralston of Gainesville, Texas, and Lou Alma Leverett of Ardmore; two sisters, Julia Cobb of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Ura Townsend of Oklahoma City; a brother Tom Johnson of Vernon, Texas; and five grandchildren

Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by her husband in March 1980.

Interment in Lakeview Cemetery will be under the direction of Carroll and Son Funeral Home, Gainesville.
