A memorial service was
held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 in the Petra Baptist Church, Fort Worth.
Born January 3, 1924, at Addington Bend, the son of Will and Evelyn Hott
Bond, he died Friday, June 24, 2016, in Fort Worth.
Although Jimbo had made his home in the Fort Worth area for more than 50
years, he always considered Love County home. On April 15, 1944, in
Tishomingo, he married the love of his life, Colleen Muse. He was a
farmer until the age of 32. At that time, he surrendered to God's call
to serve as a pastor. Jimbo would be a pastor for the remainder of his
life. His pastorate at Petra Baptist Church would continue for 50 years.
After prayerful consideration, on his 90th birthday, he announced his
retirement.
His heart and passion was always his love of the Lord and his family.
His other interests were gardening, fishing, serving neighbors and
others. Just days before becoming ill, he was still tending to his
vegetable garden.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Colleen; his parents, Will and
Evelyn; three sisters, Celia, Willie, and Ethyl; and six brothers, Dean,
Short, Jess, Olen, John, and Lynn.
Survivors include his son, Wendell Bond of Burleson, Texas; two
daughters and son-in-law, Lana Kay Bond Smith and husband, Glenn of
Arlington, Texas and Rebecca "Becky" Bond of Weatherford, Texas; brother
and sister-in-law, Gene and Nadine Bond of Marietta; two sisters-in-law,
Betty Bond of Oklahoma City and Marie Bond of Thackerville; six
grandchildren, Rob Walker, Michael Walker, Tracee Bond Lamberth, Annette
Bond Rasor, Jerry Smith, and Mistie Smith; and 14 great-grandchildren,
Caitlyn Walker Lau, Lyndsey Walker, Ryan Walker, Audrey Lamberth, Morgan
Lamberth, Hudson Lamberth, Ava Walker, Emma Walker, Nolan Walker,
