Born July 10, 1917, at Sanger, Texas, Mr. Bearden died December 12, 1995, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta. He was the son of George Washington and Nancy Rebecca Ashcraft Bearden.
A resident of Marietta most of his life, he retired from Red River Valley Electric Cooperative in 1979 after 31 years of service. Mr. Bearden served in the Army during World War II, stationed in the Aleutian Islands as an electrician. He was a member of the American Legion and of the Church of Christ for more than 60 years where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Bearden and Autry Mae Lang were married February 1, 1947, in Marietta.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Autry Mae Bearden of the home in Marietta; two daughters and son-in-law, Linda Grantham and Nancy and Vernon Barrick of Marietta; four grandchildren, Lori, Amy, Brian and John; and great-grandchild, Ty.
Interment in Lakeview Cemetery was under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers were Ted Freeman, Dick Michael, Phil McMillan, David Kerr, Bill Fox and Lynn Puckett. Honorary bearers included Clyde Folsom, Betty Wolfe, Almer Brewer, Bud Clark, Bill Wolfe, Louise Forkner and Clyde Rhoades.
