Services for Grover Cleveland Baker, Jr., were at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Meadowview Church of Christ, Mesquite, Texas.

Born June 14, 1925, in Woodville, Mr. Baker died March 27, 1997, at the age of 71. Mr. Baker spent the early part of his life caring for his Mom and Dad and raising one brother and four sisters. Later, he raised his second family of four daughters. Among his favorite pastimes were fishing and camping on Lake Texoma.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. LaVerne Baker of Dallas, Texas; four daughters, Linda Kay Austin, Debra Ann Baker, Kathy Lynn Sutterfield and Teresa Gail Baker, all of Mesquite; his mother, Florence Burge of Marietta; a brother, Alvin Baker of Ardmore; a sister, Loietta M. Landrum of Sherman, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29.

Services were directed by Anderson-Clayton Funeral Home, Mesquite.
