Richard Fred Allen of Ardmore was born on December 12, 1942, in Duncan to Fred Alonzo and Frances Hollene (Freudenrich) Allen. He passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Ardmore at the age of 82.

Richard graduated from Marietta High School in 1962 and a year later married his high school sweetheart, the former Sue Carol Holder, on May 24, 1963, in Marietta.

Richard served in the Oklahoma National Guard for two years and then joined the United States Army, where he spent the next 20 years serving his country. While in the Army, Richard earned an associate's degree. He returned to southern Oklahoma in 1983, which started the next chapter of his working life, his law enforcement career. He served several area departments, including the Love County Sheriff's Office, City of Ardmore Police Department, and Marietta Police Department. He also worked as an investigator for the Office of the District Attorney. The final chapter of Richard's working life was spent teaching CLEET-certified courses at Southern Tech in Ardmore on how to become a security guard.

He was a gun enthusiast and for many years was part of the Marietta Gunfighters Gang, often performing during Love County Frontier Days celebrations. He also enjoyed playing his guitar and attending his home church, Marietta First Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judy Darlene Mayes.

Left to cherish Richard's memory are his wife, Sue Carol Allen of Ardmore; son, Chadwick Allen of Seattle; and brothers, Gary Neal Allen of McAlester and Jerry Phillip Allen of Dumas, Texas.

Funeral services with military honors were held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 31, at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta with Brother Shane Norton officiating. Interment followed at Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.
