Gorden

Birth: unknown Death: unknown

The book "Graveyards of Love County" published by Ralph and Helen Evans in 1987 shows a list of burials for the Gordon Cemetery. It lists a "? Gorden". Our speculation is that they saw a stone but couldn't read the given name. However, a survey of the cemetery on June 11, 2009 found no tombstone showing the name of "Gorden". There are many burial stakes, many slate stones and many burial rocks in the cemetery which of bear no names or dates. During our research of the cemetery, we heard many times that there was thought to be a Dr. Gordon buried there and that the cemetery was probably named for him. [Note: Initially, we thought this "Gorden" might be Dr. John A. Gordon who served Carter and Love County residents. But, thanks to Rick Lewellen, we now know that Dr. Gordon and his wife, Arminda, are both confirmed as buried in the Dixie Cemetery in Stephens Co., OK.]
