Graveside services for Willie Rex Willis, 71, of Ardmore were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 9 at the Dunbar Cemetery with Lawrence Anderson officiating. Pallbearers were Willie's nephews and flower girls were Willie's nieces.

Born January 25, 1952, at Burneyville, the son of Loma and Lola B. McKenzie Willis, he died Thursday, August 3, 2023, at his residence.

Willie grew up in the Marietta community most of his life, attending Turner High School to the 11th grade. He then joined the Army Reserves while working on the Marietta Police Force. Willie also worked for 20 years at Uniroyal. He loved his job. Later, he opened, owned and operated his own garage in Ardmore known to most as "Willis Garage." He loved horses and everything about them. He also loved riding motorcycles and cooking for friends and family, but his favorite thing was to make people laugh. He will be loved, missed and cherished by those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen Willis; brothers, Connie, M.C., Eloma, Raymond and Michael; and sisters, Ella Toles and Veller Howell.

Survivors include his daughter, Keisha Nelson, whom he loved very much; sister, Lacy Wilson; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Charles Rambo whom Willie considered a brother; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Willis and Barbara Willis; numerous nieces and nephews; and significant other, Jamie Gassner of Ardmore.
