LaJoy accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. His early education was in Burneyville Elementary and Dunbar Elementary. He then attended Hobart Junior High and Hobart High School where he excelled in multiple sports. After graduation LaJoy attended Langston University.
He served two tours in Vietnam with the Marine Corps and later transitioned to the Air Force where he served dutifully. LaJoy retired from the military after 26 years.He accepted Christ's calling as a minister in November 2003. LaJoy enjoyed helping others, teaching and preaching God's Word, and singing in the church. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his wife. LaJoy was truly blessed.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Jilee and Leona Gaines; and
sister, Cherrie Gaines-Rambo.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Hallie Gaines of the home; two
daughters, Kesha William (Chip) of Ohio and Shawn Kyle of Arizona; two
sons, Aurbrey Gaines (Jessica) of Killeen, Texas and Joshua Reed of
Omaha, Nebraska; three brothers, Olton Leon Gaines (Virginia) of
Waurika, J.B. Gaines of Dallas, and Roy Lee Gaines (Geleain) of
Sacramento, California; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a
host of relatives and friends.
Time for visitation for family and friends will be from 6 until 8 p.m.
Friday, March 4 at the funeral home.
