Born October 25, 1915, at Burneyville, the daughter Jim and Tennie Hornbeak Williams, Mrs. Francis died March 15, 1999, in Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore, at the age of 83.
Mrs. Francis had lived in Ardmore since 1967, moving there from Marietta. She married Bennie Lee Francis on July 23, 1944. For 52 years, Mrs. Francis was a housekeeper for the Saunders family. She was a member of the St. John Primitive Baptist Church of Burneyville.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Jean Anderson of Ardmore; a brother, Willie Lornes of Denver, Colorado; a sister, Virginia Harris of Ardmore; five grandchildren, Betty Banks and Alice Dinwiddie of Ardmore, Mittie Culp of Wichita Falls, Texas, Lanassa Rutledge of Oklahoma City, and Delbert Hamilton, Jr. of Gainesville, Texas; 13 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Francis was preceded in death by her husband on November 24, 1986.
Interment will be in the Dunbar Cemetery, Burneyville, under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Assisting as pallbearers will be Frank L. Lornes, Lewis Douglass, Zelto Anderson, Milton Dailey, Perry Halstied and John Dinwiddie. Flower girls will be Lucinda Hunter, Sheila Purvey, Sammie Lornes and Jean Brown.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
