Services for Jackie “Utah” Hartman, 58, of Burneyville, were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, in Turner School’s Freeman Auditorium, with Bro. Mark Gunnels officiating.

Interment was in the Burneyville Cemetery, Burneyville. Arrangements were directed by Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.

Born July 25, 1947, in Gainesville, Texas, the son of G.B. “Brug” and Mildred Faye Hays Hartman, he died Friday, April 21, 2006, at his residence. A resident of Love County all of his life, Mr. Hartman attended school at Burneyville and Turner. He and Bernice “Sissy” Morton were married September 25, 2004 at Burneyville. Mr. Hartman enjoyed driving tractors and was vice president of the John Deere Club. He also liked car racing, riding 4-wheelers, camping, working on his homeplace, and playing with and training his dog “Jazz.” Most of all, Mr. Hartman loved being with his guardian angel and wife, his children and his beloved grandchildren. He was retired from Michelin after 30 years of employment. Mr. Hartman made Jesus, Lord of his life on December 3, 2005, sitting in a rocker on the back porch of his home. He was a member of the Burneyville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice “Sissy” Hartman of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Donna Hartman of  Wilson and Randy Liddell of Thackerville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Dickie Howard of Tecumseh, Ramona and David Piechocki of El Reno and Brenda and Troy Turner of Marietta; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Connie Hartman of Burneyville, Donald Ray Hartman of Marietta, G.B. and Mary Ann Hartman of Sherman, Texas, Leonard and Lisa Hartman of Newcastle and Bill and Fredia Hartman of Rubottom; two sisters, Rose Dawn Miller of Kilgore, Texas, and JoAnn Moore of Lone Grove; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Dale Hartman on November 15, 1995; parents, G.B. Hartman on May 14, 1982 and Mildred Faye Hartman on December 13, 1987; brothers, G.H. Hartman in 1943 and Daril Gene Hartman in September 1990; grandfather, Mart Hays on May 25, 1955; and grandmother, Gladys R. Hays on December 25, 1983.

Pallbearers were Randy Liddell, Donald Ray Hartman, Leo Meomartino, Willie Ed Douglas, Billy Burge, David Morton and Bill Hartman. Honorary pallbearers were President of the John Deere Club, Trenton Burge, along with Lindsey Culwell, Michael Culwell, Justin Lance, Brittley Hartman, Logan Hartman, Dakota Piechocki, Harley Wolfe, Brant Wolfe, Zoe Wolfe, Trevor Burge, best friend and beloved brother Johnny Hartman, Michael Yowell, Dickie Howard, Troy Turner, Sissy Burge, David Piechocki, Johnetta and Bruce Mobley, John Holt, Marion Hicks, Dr. Vergil Smith, Dr. Tom O’Connor, Jeanie Voyles, Theresa Benefield, and Faith Hospice, Kathryn Miller, Rhedonna Ralls and Kim Collins.

Memorials may be made to the Burneyville Cemetery Fund or Burneyville Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
