Maurine E. Woodul

Born: October 28, 1911
Died: March 24, 2011

Maurine Hirzel Woodul, 99 1/2 yr old, of Guthrie, OK died March 24 2011. She was born October 28, 1911 and lived in Guthrie all her life except when she attended Hills Business College in Oklahoma City, OK. She graduated from the second class of Guthrie High School in 1929.

She married the love of her life, Paul Woodul in 1931. They met while Maurine was working at Collin Dietz Morris in Oklahoma City. They moved to Park Place in 1938 and lived there until her death.

She was known for her beautiful yard and gardens and won several awards from the Guthrie Garden Club. She supplied bouquets for her church every Sunday during the blooming season and landscaped the Community Church gardens.

She was a very talented writer. She loved to enter contests writing jingles for name-brand products and won many prizes including refrigerators, TV’s, cash, and gifts.

She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother. She was an amazing, precious, and beautiful woman, full of joy and the love of Jesus Christ which she shared with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Paul Woodul, son Paul Reginald Woodul, parents Rose Hirzel Leach and Albert Hirzel of Guthrie, sister Rosalin Swinka, and brothers Albert and Raymond Hirzel.

She is survived by three daughters Marlene Harrington of Albuquerque, NM, Jeri Ellis of Carlsbad, CA, and Betty Walsh Coronado, CA, eleven grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.

With the gentle loving care of her special caregiver Audrey Humphreys, she was able to live in her own home until her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at First Southern Baptist Church with Pastor David Nolen officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery with Pastor Chris Humphreys officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Monday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. At the family’s request, the casket will not be open at any time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Southern Baptist Church Youth Fund, 202 East Noble Avenue, Guthrie, OK 73044.
