Graveside funeral services for Robert "Bob" T. Williams, 72, of Guthrie, OK will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2009 at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Bob was born on December 6, 1936 in Muskogee, OK to John T. and Josephine (Thompson) Williams. He died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Bob graduated from Haskell High School, Haskell, OK and later from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 1962. He was the sports editor for the Amarillo Globe News for many years, and then became Managing Editor at Guthrie Daily Leader. Bob was a member of the American Legion and the OSU Posse. He also wrote a sports humor column for many years in the Liberal Light, Liberal, KS until his death.

He is survived by his best friend and companion Bonnie Long of Guthrie; two sons Kirt D. Fryer and wife Jill of Tulsa, OK and Monty H. Williams of Moore, OK; one brother Richard Tillman and wife Chris of Ponca City, OK; three grandchildren Dallas, Amanda, and Braxton Williams; and three great-grandchildren.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents.

At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the OSU Foundation, P.O. Box 1749, Stillwater, OK 74076-1749.
