Kathleen Joy Wheeler was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 31, 2017. Born July 27, 1936, to Elmer Martin and Mary Reymoth(Owen) Tontz in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin and friend. She was happily married to the love of her life for 57 years, Charles Berton (Bert) Wheeler until his death on January 26, 2015.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, her parents, and her brother Billy Leroy.

She is survived by her son, Charles Martin (Mark)and Shawna Stastny of Luther, Oklahoma; son Jonathan Bruce (Jon) and wife Marilyn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and daughter Joy Lynne Dickson and Kelly Tillery of Edmond, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her grandchildren--Amy (David) Rogers; Jerra (Landon) Wheeler-Grantham; Bailey (Lance) Kirkland; Logan (Kayla) Dickson; Bridget Wheeler; Carson Wheeler; Courtney Dickson; Coleman Stastny and Daniel Patrick and her great-grandchildren-Zeddicus, Perrin, Hadley, and Owen. Also surviving Kathleen are sisters, Jerri Brownlee, and her husband Dr. Albert Brownlee of Tulsa; Judy Coburn and her husband Lawrence Coburn of Guthrie; and her baby sister Mary Jane Carey and her husband Mike Carey of Guthrie; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen graduated from Guthrie High School in 1954. She was selected as the FFA Queen her senior year. She was a beautiful queen. She went on to study at Central State University, Edmond, Oklahoma until she and Bert were married.

Kathleen was a beautiful artist, seamstress and avid cross stitcher. Even though dementia had taken control of her, she continued to do art monthly at the Fine Arts Institute of Edmond. Her art was selected by the Alzheimer's Association and presented to Congressman Tom Cole in February 2017, and is displayed in Congressman Cole's Washington DC capitol office.

Bert and Kathleen were faithful and dedicated members of the First United Presbyterian Church in Guthrie where she was active in Ruth Circle. They were also active together in the Oklahoma Rose Society, the American Rose Society, and Central District Square Dance Association. Throughout her life, Kathleen was active in the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O) Chapter AD, Garden Club, Bridge Club and Wine on Wednesday Club.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Autumn Leaves Assisted Memory Care of Edmond for their love, kindness, support, and assistance during the past eleven months of mom's residency. We love you Mary Kay, Pam, Daphene, Fiona, Shona, Vanessa, Yadira, and Sierra. Also, Opal Haffner for the unconditional love and care she provided while mom was at home. In addition, we wish to thank Alpha Hospice and Companion Health Care in the level of comfort and care they provided. We could not have done it without the involvement and dedication of those mentioned here.

Memorial services for Kathleen will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Guthrie with Pastor Amy Rogers officiating. A private family burial will be held with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 2:00 PM-8:00 PM
