Marguerite Adelaide Starks
Born: July 10, 1915
Died: May 20, 2009

Funeral Services for Marguerite Adelaide Starks will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 10:00 am at First Southern Baptist Church, Dr. Scott Stearman officiating. Burial will be at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, Oklahoma. She passed away May 20, 2009. She was born July 10, 1915 to Victor and Hazel (Goodrich) Willson.

Marguerite taught 5 years at Irvin & Star schools after earning a teaching certificate at Central State Teachers College. She married Roy F. Starks May1, 1938 and began her career as a farmer’s wife, helping on the farm at Meridian and raising four children. She was very involved in the Meridian Extension Homemakers Group. After Roy’s death in l981 she moved to Guthrie. She was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church for many years teaching both children and adults in Sunday School. She especially enjoyed Senior Adult activities and wrote the senior adult newsletter for 10 years as well as participating in Keenagers, Victorian Singers, and senior adult trips.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy, Son, Victor, son-in-law, Jim Taylor and grandson John.

She is survived by daughter & son-in-law, Margaret Ann & Sam Stearman, Guthrie, son and daughter-in-law, Roy & Glenda Starks, Meridian, daughter, Betty Taylor, Del City, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Starks, Lake Jackson, Tx. Grandchildren: Scott & Cecelia Stearman, St. Louis, Mo., Melanie & Ron Kreutzer, Sharpsburg, Ga., Sam & Patsy Starks, Okla. City, Shelly & Mike Kavanagh, Junction City, Ks, Vicki & J.R.Frausto, Lake Jackson, Tx., Tim & Suzanne Taylor, McKinney, Tx, Chris & Joanna Taylor, Anna, Tx, Michael Smith, Meridian, Kristin & Shawn Machtolff, Guthrie, and 20 great grandchildren.

Marguerite also leaves a host of family and friends who will miss her greatly.

Memorial contributions can be made to First Southern Baptist Church, Guthrie.

Visitation will be held at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home on Sunday, 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
