James Vance Seamans
Born: January 06, 1939
Died: February 12, 2012

Jim Seamans, 73, passed away peacefully at home on February 12, 2012. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Vance and Doris Seamans on January 6, 1939.

Jim graduated from NW Classen High School in 1957 where he was an All-State baseball player. He went on to play baseball while attending Oklahoma University. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Baylor College of Dentistry. He served in the Army National Guard as an MP and later as a Captain in the US Army, serving in Vietnam. Jim moved to Guthrie, OK and opened his dental practice in 1969. Over the course of his life, Jim was a pillar of the community who served numerous boards and civic organizations in Guthrie. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Guthrie.

Jim was a devoted and loving husband to Karen Seamans for 34 years. They loved traveling, steak dinners with the family and sharing a good bottle of wine.

He was a wonderful father who loved his family unconditionally. Jim was also an avid outdoorsman. He loved golfing with his sons and friends, fishing and hunting with his brother Tommy and watching OU football. He was a great friend to many and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn Seamans; son, John Stewart Seamans and brothers, David and Bill Seamans.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Seamans; children, James V. Seamans Jr., Jessica Underwood, Kelle Ashbaker, Jason Jones, Kelley Carter; 8 grandchildren; siblings, Tommy Seamans and Mary Lane.

Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church in Guthrie on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. Visitation will be Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
