DEATH OF MRS. NETTIE RICE.
The Enterprise is sorry to learn of the death of Mrs. W.E. Rice, Mrs. Rice and her family will be remembered by many in this vicinity, having lived on their farm four miles south west of here for several years. They have many friends here who sympathy will go out to the bereaved family. The following obituary was furnished us by her son, Carl L. Rice, of Coyle: Miss Nettie M. Ingram was born on March 31, 1861, near Montezuma, Ia., and died in Guthrie April 11, 1903. She was married to Wallace E. Rice January 20, 1876, to this union was born nine children all of which are living.
In December, 1890 they moved to Oklahoma where they have since resided.
Mrs. Rice suffered for some time from that dread disease cancer. She had been in Guthrie, at the home of County Supt. Calvert, for about one month being treated for this disease and had suffered terribly, the treatment being very severe.
On April 6 it was seen there was no hope and all the children were notified all of them, except one son who is in Mexico arrived at her bedside in time to tell her goodby and to receive her blessing. Her last hours were full of pain but she bore all with patience and christian fortitude, quietly passing into the sleep of death at 12:30 Saturday, April 11th.
Tho funeral services were held at the home of Mr. Calvert, Rev. Mansfield of the baptist church officiating. The interment was made in Summit View cemetery near Guthrie.
She leaves a husband and nine children, her mother and brother to mourn her untimely death. Her brother Mr. Fred Ingram of Iowa arrived Saturday night and was present at the funeral services.
