Funeral services for Evelyn Revis, 83, of Guthrie will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2003 at Community Baptist Church in Guthrie. Interment will follow in Summit View Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Evelyn was born Feb. 18, 1920 in Dover, Ark. to Jess and Judy Owen. She passed from this life on April 15, 2003.
She moved with her parents to Guthrie when she was five years old. She married Leo Revis of Guthrie on Jan. 1, 1941, and they were the perfect twosome for 62 years. Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper for First State Bank of Guthrie and retired from that career in 1982. From that time on, she spent untold hours of volunteer work with the Logan Hospital Auxiliary, serving as treasurer; as organizer of the Cooper Cemetery Association, an active member of Community Baptist Church in Guthrie, past president of Domestic Science Club, key organizer of the GHS class of 1940 reunions and a member of the Joyful Singers choir of the church as well as the "Again' Cajuns" of the First Baptist Church of Sulphur, La.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor, and will be greatly missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.
Survivors include her husband, Leo Revis, of Guthrie; one daughter, Carolyn Lindgren; two grandsons, Daniel and wife Mandy Lindgren and David and wife Rachel Lindgren, all of Sulphur, La.; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Jared, Laura Leigh, Brooke, Kamber and Payton, who were the joy of her life; two sisters, Lois Miller and Ruby Gibson, and one brother, Bill Owen, all of Guthrie; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Harold Owen and her sister Reymoth Tontz, all of Guthrie.
Visitation will take place at Smith Funeral Home Thursday, April 17 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The family will meet with friends at Smith Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Logan Hospital Auxiliary.
