Funeral services for Dorsalee Mildred Porter, 72, of Guthrie will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at the First Assembly of God Church in Guthrie with Pastor Don Gatlin officiating. Interment will follow in Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie under the direction of Community Funeral Home.
Dorsalee was born Aug. 31, 1930 in Drumright to P. S. and Mildred (Tolson) Gard. She died April 27, 2003 at her home in Guthrie.
She attended school in Agra and lived in Guthrie most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God.
She loved making quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was a very good seamstress, even making one of her daughter's wedding gowns and twirling and cheerleading costumes. Dorsalee really enjoyed reading an working crossword and word find puzzles. She was an excellent cook. She also loved her church family. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was loved by everyone and will truly be missed by all who knew her.
She married Elmer Porter on Aug. 5, 1947 in Ozark, Ark.
Survivors include her husband Elmer, of the home; one son, Delmer and wife Doreen of Oklahoma City; five daughters, Gloria Martin and husband Butch, Glenda Church and husband Randy, Judy Thompson and husband Vance and Susan Blount and husband Daniel, all of Guthrie, and Sheila Waymire and husband David of Jacksonville, Ark,; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Clyde Howard of Colorado and Jim Howard and wife Freda of Tryon.
Viewing will take place Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
