Funeral services for Efren Del Rio-Perez, 61, of Edmond will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, at Community Funeral Home Chapel in Guthrie with Father Louis Vander Ley officiating. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie under the direction of Community Funeral Home of Guthrie.
Efren was born on Sept. 16, 1942, in Casa Blanca Guadalupe, Zacatecaz, Mexico to Jose Del Rio-Coronado and Maria Perez-Arellano. He died May 13, 2004, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City.
He came to the United States in 1972 and worked in construction as a framing carpenter most of his life. He became an American Citizen in 1992. He married Dorthey on May 27, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a Catholic. He was a wonderful man, always going the extra mile to lend a helping hand. Everyone who knew Efren loved him. He always enjoyed spending time with the grandkids and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Dorthey, his mother of Mexico, one son Michael Labus and wife, Shelly, of Edmond and step-daughter-in-law Fay Labus of Edmond; six step-grandchildren, Brittany, Anthony, Kara, Tara and Trudy Labus all of Edmond and Nikolaus Labus of Coyle; three brothers, Enrique Del Rio-Perez, Ruben Del Rio-Perez and Santos Del Rio-Perez all of Mexico; and two sisters, Rosario Del Rio-Ledesma and Teresa Del Rio-Beccera both of Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepson Rudy Labus.
Viewing will be Monday from 9:30 a.m. until 8 p.m.
