Barbara "Joan" Miller
(December 3, 1931 - July 14, 2010)

Barbara "Joan" Miller, age 78 of Yale, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Drumright Nursing Home in Drumright.

Joan was born on December 3, 1931 in Crescent, Oklahoma to the late Fred Lyman and Hazel Ann (Copper) Cox. She grew up on the Cox family farm, southeast of Crescent, which her grandparents acquired during the Land Run of 1889. Joan attended the Mulhall/Orlando elementary school and graduated from Crescent High School in 1948. She married the Love of her life Lloyd Melvin Miller Sr. on July 17, 1948 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. To this union, six children were born. Joan loved taking care of her family, cooking, sewing and raising a garden. She enjoyed listening to music. Survivors include her daughters Patricia Richardson and husband Jesse of Yale, Pamela Pollard of Yale, Billie Heird and husband Randy of Wichita, Ks., daughter-in-law Barbara Joy Miller of Guthrie, grandchildren Rhonda Miller, Joanna Gaithers and husband John, Rachelle Campbell and husband Doug, Russell Mitchell Jr. and wife Alycia, Sammy Reece and wife Amy, Adam McCullough, Donna Kay Mitchell, Misty Newport, Melvin Miller III, Timothy Hurst, Shannon Kliewer and husband Milo, Lois Dyanne Rich and husband Allen, Thomas Hurst Jr., Samantha Heird, Randy Heird Jr. and wife Leslie, Jennifer Pollard, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Melvin Miller Sr., son Lloyd Melvin Miller Jr., daughter Charlotte Figures and Karen Mitchell, granddaughter Victoria Pollard and great grandson Russell Mitchell III, brothers Willard Cox and Don Cox.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2020 at the Hayes Funeral Home Chapel in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Pastor Randell Newby will officiate. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie, Ok. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, Oklahoma.
