Naomi Jean McElroy

Naomi Jean McElroy was born November 10,1929 to Charley and Sarah Hathorn in Guthrie, Oklahoma and lived there her entire life. The early years of her life was lived in north Guthrie and she later moved to the city.

After graduating from Faver High School, Naomi worked for the Logan County Farm Bureau until her retirement. Naomi was a caring and devoted daughter who spent many years caring for and seeing to the needs of her mother.

Naomi was united in marriage to Julius McElroy and this happy union remained strong for 26 years until his passing in 2010.

Naomi was a member of BeeBe Chapel CME church and was committed to supporting the church until she was unable to attend.

She was also a devoted and loyal volunteer with several social groups in Guthrie that focused on helping others.

Naomi became ill and had been under the care of the Golden Age Nursing Home and her dear cousin Morenda Fields for the past several years.

After 91 years of life which was celebrated on November 10,2020, the Lord called her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She leaves to cherish her memory her step children, grandchildren, a host of cousins who loved her like a sister and a multitude of life-long friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 4, 2020 at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.

There will not be any visitation.
