Born: March 30, 1922
Died: May 20, 2012

Funeral services for Kenneth L. “Mac” McCullough, 90, of Guthrie, OK will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Bob McCullough officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie,

Mac was born on March 30, 1922 in Finley, OK to Omer Carmon and Maudie (Hogan) McCullough. He passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2012 in Guthrie.

Mac had an unconditional love for God, his country, and family. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his yard and the beauty of nature. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his early years. Mac was a fanatic of OU football and Oklahoma City Thunder basketball.

Mac attended Durant High School where he enlisted in the Marine Corp during WW II. He was an integral part of Carlson’s Raiders in the successful offensive to secure Makin Island. He was part of the first transmission between Japan and the United States after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was extremely proud of his service to his country.

Following his military service, he worked for the Oklahoma Highway Department in communications.

Mac is survived by his wife of 69 years, Irene McCullough of the home; daughter Michelle Kitzman of Arkansas; brother Bob McCullough of Antler, OK; sister Joy Clark of Antlers; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchidlren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Dale McCullough, and sister Vivian.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the U.S. Marine Raiders Association & Foundation (www.usmarineraiders.org).
