Helen Ruth Long

Born: September 29, 1923
Died: November 25, 2008

Funeral services for Helen Ruth Long, 85, of Guthrie, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Reverend Roger Pitt of West Guthrie United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Helen was born on September 29, 1923 in Arapaho, WY to Edgar and Katherine (Lichenwald) Chisam. She died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in Guthrie.

Helen retired after more than 40 years of teaching. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 12 for more than 50 years.

She is survived by husband Robert Roden of the home, one son Bob Long and wife Kathleen of Tulsa, OK, one daughter Betty Chorab and husband Steven C. of Del City, OK, one brother Don Chisam of Chelsea, OK, one sister Birtie George of Tulsa, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Helen is preceded in death by her first husband Clarence in 1987, one sister, and one grandchild.

Visitation will be held at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home on Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 8400 Silver Crossing, Suite H, Oklahoma City, OK 73132.
