Shauna Lee Jones

Born: July 17, 1948
Died: August 19, 2010

Shauna Lee Nichols Jones of Guthrie, OK passed away on August 19, 2010 at age 62. Shauna was born on July 17, 1948 in Salt Lake City, UT and was raised and attended school in Boise, ID. It was at Boise State University she met the love of her life, Warren S. Jones and they eventually married in 1968 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Shauna and Warren had just recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary.

As a young girl, Shauna adored animals, especially her love of horses. Shauna was an accomplished barrel racer and early member of the EhCapa Bareback Riding Club of Boise, ID. She performed at many local rodeos including The Snake River Stampede and The Calgary Stampede. She continued her love for animals into adult life. After raising four beautiful children, she fell in love with and began showing Silky Terriers. Shalee Silky Terriers had many successes both national and international, including Westminster Kennel Club in NYC. She was an original member of Central Oklahoma Toy Dog Club serving over the years as Board Member, Secretary, and VP. She continued to hold membership in Silky Terrier Club of America.

In 1991, Shauna and her husband Warren and their four children moved to Oklahoma. Not long after arriving she found her way to a position at Seagate where she worked for several years. She briefly worked for the Daily Oklahoman. In 2003, she found her way to Feed the Children where she currently held the position of Senior Special Projects and Events Coordinator. She found her work very rewarding and always said she was blessed to work with people who want to help each other, "It doesn’t get much better than that."

Although Shauna’s life seemed too short, those who were touched by her understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time one lives.

Shauna is survived be her husband, Warren S. Jones; three sons, Sean Jones (Shawna) of Guthrie, OK, Trenton Jones (Leilani) of San Tan Valley, AZ, and Nicholas Jones of Edmond, OK; daughter, Naida Ann Hawkins (Timothy) of Edmond; nine grandchildren; and one sister, Carolynne Nichols of Hillsboro, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert "Bob" and Cerola Nichols.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Feed the Children, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, OK 73101.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5326 Ellie Mae Drive, Guthrie, OK 73044 (just off Sooner Road).

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, August 24, 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 North 1st Street, Guthrie, OK.
