On October 29, 1937 Wiley and Margaret Norwood gave birth to a precious and beautiful baby girl, and they named her Edith Faye Norwood.

Edith was carefully nurtured by her loving parents, that taught her the Biblical principles that led her to receive Jesus as her Lord and Savior, and into an area pond to be baptized. At an early age, Edith became a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. As a little girl she attended the Frazier Grade School and later would graduate from Douglas High School in Crescent, Oklahoma.

Edith was joined in marriage to Bobby Jones, and out of this union came five children, Marsha, Jeffrey, Randy, Victor, and Barbara. Victor passed away as an infant. Edith would eventually become a single parent, raising her four children and grandson Todd with the Good Lord's help and loving grandparents.

Edith reminded her children often, about, “humble beginnings.” It was through maintaining a life of humility, that the Good Lord poured out His grace upon our household; because the Lord promised his grace to the humble. “We did not have much, but we had it all!” We had Jesus, a devoted and loving mother, sisters and brothers. We were rich, with the things that truly matter the most, in life. Wherever we lived, Momma always made room, for others to move in with us. Momma was an excellent cook. Momma was a mean, culinary machine! “We was eating good, in the neighborhood, on a daily basis!” Momma's pound cake won first place for several years at the Logan County Fair.

Momma was a positive influence to the lives of many young women while she was employed at the Guthrie Job Corp. Center. She retired from the Job Corp after thirty one years of dedicated service.

In Proverbs 31, The word of God, describes a virtuous woman, in which I can see a reflection of Momma, and it says that; Her price is far above rubies; She works willingly with her hands; Her candle goeth not out by night; She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yes she reacheth forth her hand to the needy; Strength and honor are her clothing; SHE SHALL REJOICE IN TIME TO COME; She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness; Her children arise up, and call her blessed; Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all; A woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised; Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Funeral services will be 11:30 A.M. Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the Crescent First Baptist Church with burial following in the Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie.
