Betty Jo Hurley

Born: July 01, 1929
Died: July 09, 2011

Betty Jo Hurley passed away July 9, 2011 at the age of 82. She was born in Texarkana, TX on July 1, 1929 to Joella and Theodore Westfall. Her family moved to Guthrie, OK when she was in her early teens. She graduated from Guthrie High School in 1946, and married Jack Hurley. She and Jack took over Hurley Plumbing Company and owned it until they retired. She was very active in the First United Methodist Church of Guthrie, serving in the choir and as church Sunday School secretary for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ronald Westfall, and her husband Jack. She is survived by her children Joe and Penny Hurley, Ted and Debbie Hurley, and Susie and Tom Janik, all of Guthrie, her grandchildren Amy Hurley, Sarrah and Aaron Smith, Reese Janik, Autumn Janik, and Donovan and Lauren Kelso, and her great-grandson Alex Jones. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Mary Grace Westbrook and Hazel Westfall.

Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Guthrie at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011 and burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church building fund. At the family’s request, the casket will not be open at any time.
