Retha Ann "Pete" Hatfield passed away April 2, 2016 at her home in Columbus, KS after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born April 26, 1940 to F. Albert and Edith M. (James) Sanderson in Guthrie, OK.

She attended Abell School through the eighth grade and then Guthrie High School until her graduation in 1957. She played in the high school band and was elected FFA Queen during the 1955-56 school year. She also attended Draughon business college in Oklahoma City.

On August 9, 1958, she married Jimmie C. Hatfield at West Guthrie United Methodist Church in Guthrie. They lived in Guthrie until moving to Columbus, KS in 1998.

She had several occupations including dental assistant, real estate sales, and pumper in the oil field. After retiring, she and Jim enjoyed travelling in their RV and spending winters in Arizona and south Texas. "Grammy," as she was known by her grandchildren, enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting and was also an avid golfer.

In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by two sons, John and his wife Suzanne and Jay and his wife Rhonda, all of Columbus, KS. Grandchildren include John Hatfield Jr. and his wife Erin of Webster, TX; Zachary Hatfield of Columbus; Nichalas Hatfield of Austin, TX; McKenzie Burns and husband Shad of Carl Junction, MO; Bailie Saiz and husband Jacob of Columbus; and Matthew Hatfield of Columbus. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles F. Sanderson.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 6 at 2:00 PM at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. Friends may sign the guestbook from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Tuesday. The casket will not be open at anytime. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 6526 N. Meridian, Suite 110, Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
