Norma Jean (Bertwell) Hamilton, 65, of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, September 15, 2003 in Guthrie. She was born April 22, 1938 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Bertie Elgin and Linnie May (Brock) Hamilton. She married Edward Hamilton in 1955, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and raised two sons and a daughter. She lived most of her life in the Guthrie area, and was a member of Noble Avenue Baptist Church, Guthrie, Oklahoma. She loved gardening, animals, and writing poetry.
Survivors include her husband, "Eddie" Hamilton, of the home; her children: Larry Hamilton and wife, Debbie; Randy Hamilton and wife, Cherie; and Cassandra Hamilton, all of Guthrie. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; her sister, Alene Hulme of Hobart, Oklahoma a brother, Bill Bertwell, of Guthrie; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m., at Davis Funeral Chapel in Guthrie, Oklahoma with Doctor Larry Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie, OK.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2003, from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Guthrie, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Athritis Foundation, 3232 W. Britton Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73120 or to Bone and Joint Hospital, 111 North Dewey, Oklahoma City, OK 73103.
