          Ernestine Mae Brown Griffith went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 17, 2017 in Oklahoma City, OK.She was born August 30, 1928 in Cashion, Oklahoma to Earnest and Ida Mae (Payne) Smith. Her early years, as well as the first years of her marriage, were spent in Guthrie and Phoenix, Arizona. 

          Along with her late husband, Ernestine owned and operated several businesses in Guthrie including service stations, convenience stores, and a taxi service. She also served as a volunteer at the Logan County Aging Services at Highland Hall, and was a member of the Full Gospel Fellowship Church in Guthrie. She enjoyed traveling, church activities, playing cards and dominoes, and Ladies Day at the casino with her daughters and daughter-in-law. In 2015 she married Ron Griffith and they resided south of Guthrie.

        Ernestine is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Edgar Smith, LeRoy Smith, and Earnest Smith Jr., one son, James Nelson, and husband Chester Brown, all of Guthrie.

       She is survived by her husband, Ron Griffith of the home, two brothers Harold Smith of Guthrie and Jerry Smith and Carol of Edmond, two sons, Gary West and Janet of Oklahoma City and Eddie Nelson and Terry of Mustang. She is also survived by four daughters, Velda (Vee) Martinez of Tecumseh, Sue Countess and Allen, Carol Nelson, and Deborah Daniel and Donald all of Guthrie. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

      Funeral services for Ernestine will be held at 1:30 PM , Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Cecil Green officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home. 

Visitation will be held Monday. 12:00-5:00 PM. The casket will not be open.
