Carolyn Louise Gardner

Died: July 06, 2009

Carolyn Louise Freudenberger Anderson Gardner, 76, was born December 13, 1932 to Philip and Louise (Rickstrew) Freudenberger in Guthrie, OK. She was raised on the family farm at Coyle, OK during the Great Depression. After a brief battle with cancer, Carolyn passed away on July 6, 2009 at Kindred Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.

Carolyn married Gene Leon Anderson, Sr. in Guthrie, OK on August 8, 1951. Together they raised their four children on the family farm in Navina, OK. She is survived by her children Gene Leon Anderson, Jr. and wife Linda of Guthrie, Sandra Joye Haffner and husband John of Cashion, OK, Philip Orvin Anderson of Cashion, and David Henry Anderson and wife Sherri of Crescent, OK; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three siblings John Peter Freudenberger of Cashion, Phyllis Pults and husband Troy of Oklahoma City, and Joseph Andrew Freudenberger and wife Donna of Yukon, OK. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Her passion was her horses. Carolyn was a life-long member of the American Quarter Horse Association and served many years as the secretary of the Logan County Quarter Horse Club. She raised foundation quarter horses for 40 years and even enjoyed showing and racing a few of them. Carolyn was an original employee of the GM plant in Oklahoma City and after 25 years of loyal service, retired on May 1, 2004.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church in Guthrie with Reverend W.R. Rains officiating. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be held until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
