Beatrice Irene (Lentz) "Bea" English departed this life on April 9, 2009. Bea was born October 14, 1923 in Guthrie, OK to Lloyd and Irene (McKay) Lentz. She attended Guthrie schools, graduating from Guthrie High School in 1941 and attended Oklahoma State University and St. Joseph’s Academy.

Bea married the love of her life, Kenneth English in Guthrie on September 1, 1942.

She was a homemaker, who adored her family. After their children were reared she joined her husband in their menswear store in downtown Guthrie. Later she became a licensed real estate broker and worked for many years at Lentz Real Estate, owned by her brother, Lloyd Lentz, Jr.

Bea’s hobbies included knitting, cross-stitching, crocheting, ceramics, and she loved to travel with Ken. However, her primary pleasures in life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. There was nothing that she would not do for them.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Susan Nickles, parents, brother, and a great-grandchild Steven Nickles.

Survivors are Kenneth, her husband of 66 years, two children and their spouses; Jenny Nelson and husband Joe of Stillwater, OK, Robert English and wife Mary of Checotah, OK, and son-in-law, Clark Nickles of Ponca City, OK. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Bob & Patrick Nickles and Katy Walters; Amy Bryant, Julie Wilson, and Christopher Nelson; Michael, Josheb, Javan, and Matthew English, and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a host of great friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 13, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, Guthrie with Pastor Mike DeMoss officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. Visitation will be held Sunday, 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Monday, 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., at the family’s request, the casket will not be open at any time.
