Anabel Leona Dodson passed away on June 8, 2018 with her family surrounding her with love and support as she made her final journey to be with her heavenly family.

Anabel was born July 27, 1932 to Karl O. and Burness L. (Ketch) Ritterbusch in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of three children. Her whole life was spent living in Guthrie. Anabel was a proud graduate of the Class of 1950 and was very close to many of her classmates. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Guthrie, Oklahoma.

She married Marcus A. Dodson on December 5, 1951. To this union was blessed with two daughters, Kathy Harmon, Orlando, Oklahoma, and Karen Petty, Guthrie, Oklahoma.

As her daughters grew so did Anabel's outside interests. She became a Brownie-Girl Scout leader, took them to twirling, and was always very active with whatever they were involved in. She also took into her home her niece, Carrie, for a while.

Anabel was a long time employee of McVicker's Stationary and Book Store. She started working there off and on when she was in high school and then in the late 1960s full time. She met a few movie stars while they were filming movies in town like Buddy Elson and Ben Johnson while she worked there also. She always enjoyed seeing the friends who came in on any given day. Anabel worked there until the store closing in 1995.

After her retirement she looked forward to being home and enjoying it. You could always bet you would find her watching one of her many favorite westerns on television, maybe trimming bushes in her yard, or just sitting on the front porch enjoying the sounds and sights of the neighborhood. Her home was the family celebration house. Family would fill its room with lots of food, laughter, and love. She was the center of the family and always wanted everyone to have a good time and never go home hungry.

Family who predeceased her are her parents, sister, Marjorie Ridens, brother, Karl E. Ritterbusch, and niece, Karla Fitzhugh.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy and Cecil Harman, Orlando, OK., Karen and Marvin Petty, Guthrie, OK., grandsons Jason Harmon and Shaun Miller, Enid, OK., nieces, Carrie Taft, Guthrie, OK., Debbie Sangsland, Port Orchard, WA., nephews, Kenneth Ridens, Port Orchard, WA., Mark Dodson, OKC, and several great nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Anabel will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 11, 2018 at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial donations in her name may be made to the American Heart Association, 3401 NW 63rd St., #200, Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
