Funeral services for LaRue S. Damon, 84, of Guthrie will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2003 at Davis Funeral Chapel in Guthrie with the Rev. Karen Rogers of First United Presbyterian Church in Guthrie officiating. Burial will follow in Summit View Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
Damon was born June 20, 1919 in Kiowa to Charles and Rebecca (Reese) Sharp. She died Thursday, June 26, 2003 at Logan Hospital and Medical Center in Guthrie.
LaRue moved to Guthrie from Kiowa right after graduating from high school, and lived here for 64 years except for some time in California and Louisiana. She was vice-president and general manager of Guthrie Abstract for 50 years, retiring in 1995. She then worked for the Logan County Election Board from 1995 to 2001. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and had been a member of the Guthrie Eastern Star Chapter No. 12 since 1956. She loved to play bridge and bowl.
She married Chester R. Damon on May 18, 1941 in Los Angeles, Calif.
Survivors include her husband, Chester, of Guthrie; one daughter, Diane Smith and husband Jerry of Nashville, Tenn., one son, Stephen Damon of Guthrie; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home Sunday, June 29 from 1 to 8 p.m. and Monday, June 30 from 8:30 to 9 a.m.
