Christopher Lawrence Cowden

Born: November 13, 1964
Died: May 17, 2008

Christopher Lawrence Cowden passed away on May 17, 2008 in Guthrie, OK. He was born on November 13, 1964 to Ray and Judy Cowden in Oklahoma City. He attended Guthrie High School and was an active volunteer for the Red Cross. He graduated in 1983 from Guthrie High School and then attended college at both Central State University and Langston University.

In 1987 he became the proud father of Mallory Brooke Cowden. After a long courtship, he married the love of his life, Sara Christine Frame on March 25, 1995. They established permanent residence in Guthrie to be close to his beloved family and friends. He worked for Calvin Mays Oil and then Arrow Drilling as a Company Supervisor. Chris is preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond and Zelma Cowden and Odell and Elma Shaw of Oklahoma City.

Chris is survived by his precious wife of 13 years, Sara Christine and beautiful daughter Mallory Brooke; his loving parents, Ray and Judy Cowden; his brother Matt Cowden and wife Christie; his sister Teri Cowden and husband Darin Draper; his sister Suzanne Cowden and husband Chris Hirzel; his father and mother-in-law, George and Jane Frame; and his brother and sister-in-law, David and Amy Frame. He also is survived by several nieces and nephews: Kelsey, Caleb, and Miranda Cowden, Jaxon and Brady Hirzel, and Charlie Draper.

Chris was known for his amazing compassion and integrity to others. Everyone that knew him became a lifelong friend. He never met a stray dog he didn’t love and became famously known for his funny stories and friendly antics. He touched so many lives and today there are many broken hearts all across Oklahoma. He loved life outdoors and enjoyed snowboarding, riding his motorcycle, hunting, playing golf, and spending time with his close knit family and friends. We will miss his easy smile and infectious laugh. His spirit will be with all that knew him.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2008, 10:00 A.M. at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross, Logan County Chapter, P.O. Box 325, Guthrie, OK 73044.

We love you Chris.
