Roscoe Fennell Burton
Born: February 07, 1966
Died: December 02, 2012

Roscoe Fennell Burton, known affectionately as "Tiger" by close family members and “Ross” by friends and associates, was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Roscoe Jr. and Beverly on February 7, 1966. He was the eldest of two children.

At the age of two, the family moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1968 from Guthrie, Oklahoma where Ross was educated in the Detroit Public Schools system and two years of college while working at United Parcel.

Ross loved to dance and dress. He was a regular on the Detroit dance show, "The Scene". He won several trophies modeling in Detroit for several different stores.

In 1986 Ross, while on vacation in New York, applied for a position within Macy’s. In 1987 he received a call from them, for employment and decided to relocate to New York to begin his new career.

In 1990 he was then approached by an associate from Loreal Cosmetics Company in New York City, for employment and was hired to work for Lancome Cosmetics; he later then came to be known as the International Make- Up artist for Lancome. Ross’ brilliant style of makeup artistry has taken him around the world learning new techniques and teaching what he had learned at many different trend shows held all over the United States within store venues such as: Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks, Dillard’s and Macy’s just to name a few...

In 2006 and 2007 respectively, Ross received awards from Essence magazine for being the National Artist Director and Jr. Vice President for Lancome Cosmetics. In 2008 Ross received the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Fashion Icon Award. In 2007 after years at Lancome Cosmetics, Ross left and joined the family of Oprah Winfrey as her make-up artist until his passing. His travels with her took him to South Africa, Australia, Turkey, Paris, Rome and many other places that he enjoyed. He also painted facial canvases at Mercedes-Benz Fashion week, Sundance, and ESPN’s ESPY awards.

Ross did not limit his celebrated professional insight to celebrities. In an effort to equip women from all walks of life with the appropriate tools to craft winning looks, he has hosted style forums, contributed to magazines and partnered with additional clients including but not limited to YSL Beaute Philosophy and O, the Oprah magazine. From his appearance on television as a beauty expert on The Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood shows, his stylish enthusiasm has solidified his position as a leader in his field.

Many of Ross’ other love interests included cooking, traveling and discussing current events, especially politics. He was always looking for new fashion whether it was lipstick, skin care products, make-up brushes, nail polishes, etc. All to make the ladies look and feel good about themselves, he just loved people and this was his profession.

His brother Reginald Darnell preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing, his parents, Roscoe Jr. and Beverly; his grandfather, Roscoe Burton Sr.; grandmothers, Rosie Mae Lee and Mertis Jean Evans; uncles, aunts, cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ross touched many lives and will surely be missed by everyone.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 10, 2012 at Faver High School Auditorium, Guthrie, OK. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
