Janet Marie (Young) Burkert was born on July 28, 1959, in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Raymond V. and Gloria Ann (Bross) Young. Janet passed away on June 25, 2021, in Guthrie at the age of 61.

Janet lived in Guthrie most of her life. She attended the Guthrie First Assembly of God Church where her father was one of the founding members. She worked as a cashier at Braum's for the past two years where she could always be found smiling and enjoying interacting with her customers. She enjoyed watching TV (especially Lifetime and Days of Our Lives), spending time with her grandchildren, and playing solitaire.

Survivors include her sons Shaun Parker of Guthrie, Christopher Parker and girlfriend Jennifer of Oklahoma City, and Aaron "AJ" Burkert of Helena, mother Gloria Ann Young of Guthrie, siblings Raymond Young and wife Carla of Edmond, Sylvia Friend and husband Robbie of Guthrie, Virgil Young of Guthrie, and Michael Young and wife Maria of Edmond. Janet is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Zoe, Paris, John, Aydin, Jordan, Ella, Aayen, and Kaisen. Janet was preceded in death by her husband John Burkert in 1985, son Stephen Burkert, and father Raymond Young.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Hayes Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Gatlin officiating. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
