Norvalea Brown
April 2, 1934 - February 3, 2017

Norvalea Brown, age 82 of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away February 3, 2017 in Guthrie. She was born on April 2, 1934, in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Norval and Netrola (Leach) Cox.

Norvalea graduated from Guthrie High School in 1952. She married Edward "Ed" Brown on January 3, 1954 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Guthrie. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. Norvalea had an incredible love for children and truly felt her ministry within the church was to take care of them, which she did for over 40 years. Outside her love for Jesus, there was nothing more important to her than her family. Norvalea enjoyed knitting, sewing, scrapbooking, reading and riding horses when she was younger.

Survivors include her son Brian Brown and wife Christina of Guthrie, daughter Brenda Coalwell and husband John of Broken Arrow and daughter Cheryl Brown of Guthrie. She is also survived by grandchildren Scott and Laura Stevens, Kyle and Leah Stevens, Brittney, Macey, Jeremy and Brooke, Emily and Chloe Brown and great grandchildren Andrew Stevens and Troy Stevens. Norvalea was preceded in death by her husband Ed on September 19, 2012 and brother Sonny Cox.

Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at First Southern Baptist Church in Guthrie with Pastor James Hunt officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. The casket will not be open at any time.
