Agnes Rose (Tontz) Baker went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 4, 2012 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 94 years, 5 months, and 27 days. She was born on May 7, 1918 to Benjamin and Jessie (Mosier) Tontz near Crescent, OK.

Agnes was raised on a farm west of Guthrie, OK and graduated from Guthrie High School in 1937. She married Pearl Baker on June 2, 1942. They lived and worked in the oil fields of Kansas until the end of World War II. After returning to Guthrie, she worked at numerous jobs including as the office administrator at the Guthrie meat locker for many years. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Guthrie, serving in many ways throughout her life. She enjoyed volunteering for the Logan County Aging Services senior center, delivering mobile meals, and for other organizations. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends in the hospital, nursing home, and shut-ins. In her later years, she was a resident at Emeritus Assisted Living Center in Oklahoma City where she continued to make others feel welcome. She enjoyed gardening, canning, hunting, fishing, and traveling.

Agnes is survived by her son Rickey Baker, daughter-in-law Kelly (Blair) Baker, and two grandsons Seth and Zachary Baker all of Edmond, OK and numerous other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Pearl, sister Dorothy Tontz, and brother Fred Tontz.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 9, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church with The Reverend W.R. Rains officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be Thursday, 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., with family receiving guests, 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 424 East Warner Avenue, Guthrie, OK 73044.
