Graveside funeral services for John Butler Simpson, III, age 53, of Edmond, Oklahoma were held at Seward Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday with Brother Gene Owen of Church of Christ of Guthrie, Oklahoma officiating. Burial was directed by Smith Funeral Home in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Simpson was born on April 5, 1950 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John and Imogene Simpson, Jr. He died Friday, September 5, 2003 in Edmond, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife Vicky Simpson, his mother Imogene Simpson, Guthrie, five children: Mike Barnett and his wife Shannon, Crescent, Diane Simpson, Guthrie, Stacy Simpson and her husband, Mike Walton, Guthrie, Shannon Putnam and her husband Billy, Guthrie, John Simpson, IV and his wife Crissie, and Christie Starns, Texas. One brother Jimmy Simpson and his wife Kathy, Guthrie, one sister Mary Butler and her husband Keith, Edmond. Also eighteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces, and many other family members. Also former wife Nadine Simpson, Edmond.
He was preceded in death by his father John Simpson, Jr., one daughter Rebecca Dawn Simpson and one granddaughter, Taylor Dawn Simpson.
