Our mother, Evelyn R. Underwood of Guthrie, OK, was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the age of 92. She was born to Vinnie and Will Park on January 7, 1916, the last of ten children. Along with her parents and eight of her siblings, she is preceded in death by her husband Roy and son Michael. Survivors include her daughter Ann Chapman of Tucson, AZ, son John Underwood and wife Tamera of Guthrie, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Nannie McNeil and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Evelyn grew up on a farm west of Mulhall, OK and graduated from Guthrie High School. After marriage, most of her life was spent in the Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri areas, leaving in 1991 to spend the next 14 years with her daughter in Tucson, AZ, returning to Guthrie in 2005. She spent these last three years at Coleís Nursing Home.
Evelynís life was productive and perseverant. Her three children were encouraged and instructed in the gift of faith from Christ Jesus. Amen.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Guthrie Christian Church with Pastor Marlin McNeil and Minister Don Riepe. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Mulhall. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
