Betty Jane Pickens Vogt

The funeral for Betty Jane Pickens Vogt, 78, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Crescent . The Rev. Steve Black will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Knowles Cemetery , Crescent. Arrangements are by Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home, Crescent .

She was born May 24, 1931, and adopted by Andy and Pauline Lynch and died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, in Oklahoma City.

She grew up and attended school in Marshall and Crescent , graduating from Crescent High School. She helped her mother work as a telephone operator with Pioneer Telephone.

She married Hubert Pickens in 1949. He died in 1992.

She worked in real estate and banking, retiring in 1976.

She married John Vogt May 10, 1994. They helped with several First Baptist Church ministries in Crescent .

Surviving are her husband, John, of the home; one son, Tom Pickens of Tulsa; three stepsons, Johnny Vogt of Oklahoma City, Nathan Vogt of Lubbock, Texas, and Clifford Vogt of Hennessey; one brother, Lester Jones of Moore; one sister, Edna Evans of Tennessee; and two grandchildren.
