CRESCENT- Opal Elizabeth Vessell, 80, died Monday at a Crescent hospital. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Oakland-Knowles Cemetery near Crescent with the Rev Jim Moody officiating. Arrangements are by Abernathy Funeral Home.

She was born June 27, 1906, in Canton to David and Renea Myers Goodman. On August 5, 1947, she married Ira "Slim" Vessell in Amarillo, Texas.

Survivors include a son, Jimmy Arnold, Crescent; three brothers, Leo Goodman, Crescent, Brownie Goodman, Salem, Oregon, and Kenneth Goodman, Canfield Ohio; three sisters, Blanche Bell, Isbell, Kansas. Maudie Rice, Watonga, and Orsa Gordon, Oklahoma City; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Slim, May 31, 1986, and a brother.
