Gene Houston Mains

Funeral services for Gene Houston Mains, 74, of Crescent will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2003 at the West Guthrie Assembly of God with the Rev. R. L. Stuart officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland-Knowles cemetery in Crescent under the direction of Community Funeral Home in Guthrie.
Mains was born July 13, 1928 in Shidler to the Rev. Charles Edward and the Rev. Ovah Jewel (Houston) Mains. He died January 15, 2003 in Guthrie.
Gene grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Crescent in 1978. He was a member of the West Guthrie Assembly of God and a construction contractor.
Gene really like to cook on the river. He truly lived for his family and will be missed by all.
He married Dorothy Marie Drain on August 7, 1948 in Guthrie.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Mains, of the home; one son, Gene Edward and wife Donna of Crescent; two daughters, Laquita Marie Jordan and husband Dean of Crescent and Kathy Jewell McNees and husband Mickey of Glazier, Texas; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one brother, Billy L. Mains and wife Jo of Crescent and one sister, Ruby Lewis of Edmond.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bo Mains, and one son, Billy Dale Mains.
Viewing will take place Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m.
