Margaret Ann Hixon passed away from this world on August 23, 2019 at the age of 85 in Crescent, Oklahoma. Margaret was born in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Mabel (Todd) and Charlie Copeland. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Donald Lee Hixon on October 28, 1950 in El Reno, Oklahoma. From this union, they had two sons, Gary Lynn and Larry Don Hixon. They were married for 67 years.

Margaret graduated from Big Four High School in Kingfisher, Oklahoma in 1952. She then went on to attend Oklahoma State University where she graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She began her teaching career at Norfork Grade School in Yale, OK. teaching second grade. Her son Gary was lucky enough to be her student, but struggled with raising his hand before he was allowed to talk to his mother. Margaret went on to teach 38 years in various elementary schools throughout Oklahoma including, Oklahoma City Public Schools, Glenpool, Piedmont, Deer Creek, and moved south to Texas and taught at Grapevine, TX. for five years. Margaret and Don decided to move back to Oklahoma and settle on their farm, so they moved back to Crescent. She finished out her teaching career as a fourth grade teacher for Crescent Public Schools.

Margaret loved to cook and host many celebrations in her home from birthdays to holidays. She loved to host a house full of friends and family. Her mother, Mabel, taught Margaret and her sister how to cook when she was 8 years old. She took this love of cooking and turned it into one of her favorite hobbies. She loved making pies, cakes, cookies, fried chicken and homemade ice cream. She could take any ingredient and make a delicious home cooked meal and dessert. Even her food mistakes were a hit with the family, such as the time she mistook peppermint extract for vanilla and added it to the oatmeal cookies and not one cookie was left.

Margaret was very involved in the community around the Crescent area.
