Chris Clark Cassiday
(November 12, 1953 - December 26, 2009)

Chris Clark Cassiday, chosen and beloved before the foundation of the earth, was welcomed home into the arms of his savior on December 26, 2009. Chris was born November 12, 1953 in Enid, Oklahoma to Charles and Eunice (Clark) Cassiday.

After graduating from Crescent High School, Chris enlisted in the USAF. He received an ROTC scholarship to Oklahoma State University. While in college, he married his high school sweetheart, and love of his life, Cynthia Patrick. Chris was then commissioned as an officer in the USAF and went on to become a C-130 pilot. He flew countless missions as a typhoon chaser, and was awarded an Air Medal for his part in Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada. Though he loved to fly, Chris got out of the Air Force in 1986 in order to spend more time with his wife and children. The family moved back to his hometown of Crescent where he worked as a pumper in the oil field for over 20 years. Chris was an elder of Immanuel Covenant Church. He was a joyful spiritual leader to his family as well as the church. Chris was a go-to-guy, you could come to him with anything, and he would listen to help you out no matter how large or small the problem. His children feel extremely blessed to have experienced the unconditional love that he bestowed upon them, truly mirroring the Heavenly Father’s love for His children. We rest in assurance that we WILL see him again on the other side of eternity. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Chris is survived by his parents, Charles and Eunice Cassiday of Crescent, his sister, Nita Henson and husband Randy of Edmond, his wife of 35 years, Cynthia; five children, Melissa Lewis and husband Zachary, Matt Cassiday and wife Justine, Nathan Cassiday and wife Misty, Rebekah Roberts and husband Charles, Hannah Cassiday, and seven grandchildren with two more on the way, Keilah, Abigail, Ian, Taylor, Jordyn, Landon, and Wyatt all of Crescent as well as a host of other family.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Immanuel Covenant Church in Crescent with Pastor Matt Wiley officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland-Knowles Cemetery. The First Christian Church of Crescent will provide a dinner for the family. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent.
