Velda Jean Billings
(December 6, 1932 - December 14, 2010)

Velda Billings was born in a small farmhouse west of Crescent, Oklahoma at the home of her maternal grandparents, Goldie and “Pop” Oswald to parents, Raymond A. Bollenbach and Thelma J. Oswald Bollenbach. One of two twin girls born that day, her sister Velta June died shortly after their births.

Velda attended Big-4 School but graduated from Crescent. She married James Edward Billings September 21, 1952 and over time they were joined by two beautiful daughters. Jim, Velda, and the girls resided many years in and around Casper, Wyoming but when he became ill in 1996 they returned to Crescent. He died later that year.

Velda lived out her days in Crescent, where she passed away Tuesday. Her two loving daughters Kristi Lyn Billings Gant of Crescent, and Karen Kay Billings Gant of Quito, Ecuador were by her side. She was preceded in death by her sister, her parents, and her beloved husband. Velda's grandchildren Tavis Gant with wife Jacklyn, Jamie Gant, and Kristin Leigh Anthony Billings were dearly adored and they loved their “grandma”. Velda also leaves behind four great-grandchildren Amber, Devon, Shane, and Brynn Gant.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Abernathy Aaron Chapel with Rev. Dave Gant officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland-Knowles Cemetery.
