The following was taken from the The Gateway to Oklahoma History, gateway.okhistory.org crediting Oklahoma Historical Society. Mulhall Newspaper dated Friday March 4, 1910

 

Death of Geo. H. Smith

George H. Smith was born in DeKalb county, Mo., Jan 14 1831 and died at the home of his son Rev. Chas. W. Smith, ten miles southwest of Mulhall Feb 24, 1910 of paralysis of the bowels after an illness of ten days. He came to Oklahoma in 1897.

July 4, 1860, he married Miss Mary L. Ashby. He was the father of eleven children, three sons and two daughters yet live and fourteen grandchildren. He was in the ninety-day infantry in 1865. He had been a christian since his fourtheenth birthday. Well liked in the community where he has lived since 1903. With a word of cheer for all, singing and clapping his hands to the last.
